Lallybroch is actually Midhope Castle, located between South Queensferry and Linlithgow on the edges of the private Hopetoun Estate. All of this is less than 10 miles from Edinburgh making this a relatively easy place to visit if you are staying in Edinburgh, Fife or the Scottish Borders.

“The show is a lot more… flexible, shall we say?†Gabaldon says. “That is, all of the designers, builders and props people are dedicated researchers and crafters; their work is beautiful, detailed and painstaking to the nth degree. The writers [are] good but not always accurate.
But we cannot forget that the end of season one (and the first book) sees Jamie raped by Black Jack Randall. At the time this felt like a bold decision by a female author, to acknowledge the reality of sexual assault with a man as a victim.
The fan theorised that Jamie's ghost arrived to summon Claire to the past to save him from being killed by the redcoats. Jamie was almost killed by the redcoats in the first season of the show, but was saved by Claire's warning.
The novel continues to follow Claire and Jamie's life in the Colonies, and Laoghaire, who is still in Scotland, does not make an appearance. But she does resurface in Gabaldon's seventh book, An Echo In The Bone, when the Frasers travel back to Scotland.
The fictional stones in the Starz TV version of Outlander were based on the real-life Callanish Stones on the Isle of Harris, and on Men in Kilts, Heughan and his former Outlander costar Graham McTavish, who played Dougal Mackenzie, visit the stones on the “Witchcraft and Superstition†episode.
He married her because she was twice widowed with two young daughters and he was lonely. In the books, their marriage is never really a "marriage." They do sleep together, but Laoghaire's past experiences with men must have been fairly awful, because she can barely stand to have Jamie touch her in the bedroom.
Gabaldon once revealed that Jamie's ghost is actually 25, which is bizarre considering that he's well into middle-age in Season 5 of the show. In Season 5, Jamie reiterates that he can't travel through the stones, but it seems the stones have a mind of their own.
While Craigh na Dun is a fictional stone circle, many such structures exist all over the British Isles, including Scotland. Craigh na Dun is modeled off of the Callanish Stones in the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. The stones in the TV series were made of styrofoam and installed on location at Kinloch Rannoch.
Jamie and Claire went on to have another daughter Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton), who came back through the stones to be reunited with her parents. The Highlander mentioned Brianna had red hair like her sister Faith after Claire showed him photos of their child in season three when the lovers were reunited.
There are currently seven seasons of Outlander confirmed. Five of those seasons are on STARZ (four are on Netflix in the U.S.), and the sixth season is set to premiere in early 2022.
The season finale ends with Jamie returning Lionel's body to his brother, who vows to avenge Lionel - setting up season six to be just as dramatic as ever.
Outlander was also renewed for a 7th season. In June 2021, Starz announced that season seven would consist of sixteen episodes, due to the shortened sixth season. "Six seasons is an incredible run as it is, but I think Diana has a few more books [planned] so we'll see," Balfe previously said.
In reference to the title Gabaldon has explained that it comes from a very old Celtic custom (known in other parts of Europe, too) that made it to the Appalachians of talking to bees. You always tell the bees when someone is born, dies, comes or goes—because if you don't keep them informed, they'll fly away.
According to WealthyPersons.com, Gabaldon is currently worth $110 million thanks to her popular book series.
She said Jamie will be 59 while Claire is 64 in Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone. Sam Heughan plays the role of Jamie Fraser while actress Caitriona Balfe portrays Claire.
The literary droughtlander is finally coming to an end. Readers will get a new story featuring Jamie, Claire, and the rest of the Fraser clan this fall. EW can exclusively report that Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone, the ninth novel in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander saga, will be released Nov. 23.
