Troubleshoot phone line-connected VX 520 terminals
- Unplug the phone cord from the terminal.
- Unplug the power cord from the terminal.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Plug in the power cord.
- Wait until the Commserver screen appears.
- Plug in the phone line.
- Try again to process a transaction.
How to Process an Offline Transaction -Verifone VX Terminal
- Press More key (1st purple key on left until Offline)
- Select Offline.
- Enter Amount $
- Press Enter.
- Confirm amount $ by selecting Yes (F1)
- Enter credit card #'s.
- Enter.
- Select Credit (F1)
On the terminal's keypad, hold down the 1,5, and 9 keys simultaneously. When the terminal prompts for a password, enter 166832 and press the green “enter†button on the keypad. An admin screen will appear with 3 options: Run App, Reboot, and Log Out.
Just determine the program that best fit your needs. Then, when you need help, simply place one call into the Verifone Help Desk at 1.800.VERIFONE. If your problem requires on-site diagnostics or support, a Verifone Authorized Service Contractor will be dispatched to your site.
- Navigate the following sequence of menus by pressing on the idle screen: Menu > Management > Settings > Communication.
- Enter password of '123456' (Unless you set your own password at the point of installation).
- Select WiFi > Configuration > WiFi Scan.
- Select the name of the router you want to use and press Add.
* Ethernet cable must be purchased separately.
- Remove the cover from the bottom of the terminal.
- Connect an ethernet cable to the 'ETH' port OR the included phone line cable to the phone port.
- Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into an open numbered port on the router.
- Connect the power adapter to the round port.
You can find your Terminal ID or Merchant ID / TSP number on all of your transaction and settlement receipts. If your terminal is connected to the Verifone network, your Terminal ID will show on the receipt as 'TSP'. Your Merchant ID will show on the receipt as 'MID'.
There are three simple steps to restarting a malfunctioning Verifone credit card terminal.
- Press the 1, 5, and 9 keys on the Credit Card Terminal keypad at the same time.
- When the password screen comes up after a few seconds, press the X key on the keypad.
The Vx520 has a thermal printer, meaning that it does not take any ink or ribbons. Only thermal paper rolls can be used.
One of the quickest ways to troubleshoot a Verifone Vx 520, is to: Unplug the terminal from the power source, let it sit for about 30 seconds, Plug it back in, and allow the terminal to reboot. Go back to the soft pay screen, and then they select the sales screen.
Restart / Reboot the Credit Card Reader
- Press and hold the .,#* and yellow buttons on the credit card reader at the same time until the reader chimes.
- Release the buttons after you hear the chimes. The reset begins.
- When the credit card reader has been reset the main screen will display.
