Can I wear a sock over an elastic bandage with a sprained ankle? Yes. If the pain is not to great when you touch your foot, then you can gently slip a sock over the bandage. Even if it is just over your toes and not all the way on, it will help keep your foot warm and/or your toes covered.
The bandage should provide a snug compression, but not restrict blood flow. Please remove compression bandages at night while sleeping. for best results. As swelling reduces it may be necessary to adjust compression bandage.

How long do I need to wear the bandage? The bandage needs to be worn until your ulcer has completely healed. It is recommended that the initial bandage will be changed after 48-72 hours. Thereafter the bandage will usually be left on for one week.
Ice will help alleviate pain and reduce swelling. Compression via wrapping the injured or sore area with an Ace wrap or elastic bandage will also help reduce swelling. Do not wrap your knee too tightly, as this can create additional swelling below the injured or sore area.
