While the city is generally safe, there are a few areas where things are more dangerous, particularly at night. Is Footscray safe at night? I've lived right in the heart Footscray for the last five years and have had no problem at all. The main shopping areas feel very safe, the railway station has a significant police presence meaning train travel is hassle free at all hours and generally people leave you be.

The area is generally pretty safe despite what some people say about it, there are some colourful characters around but they are mostly harmless. In terms of value for money you can't go past Footscray as it is one of, if not the most affordable suburb in relation to it's proximity to the CBD.

Safe and great housing. The council don't look after much for the quality of streets however the residents maintain the surrounding very well. In my 7 years observation and experience I have lived in a safe and good neighbouring.
"Young families delight, being safe quiet and sooo close to the city, some with views of city skyline." Coburg North has more green and leafy areas, than can be expected so close to the city, such a friendly family atmosphere.
