superposed - Place (something) on or above something else, esp. so that they coincide: "superposed triangles". superimpose - Place or lay (one thing) over another, typically so that both are still evident.
The original Browning A5 shotguns, like this one, were made in Belgium until the start of World War II, when Remington produced the A5 alongside their Model 11s. Production returned to Belgium after the war, but moved to Browning's Miroku plant in Japan in 1975.
Excerpt from the "Blue Book of Gun Values", by S. P Fjestad: "During late 1966, Browning's salt wood problems began to emerge, and continued until 1972. Most experts have never seen a long tang salt gun, and therefore believe that almost 100% of the salt guns had short tangs."
Browning Citori barrels are definitely NOT interchangeable. Each barrel set is fitted to its receiver.

Shotguns usually have the brand symbol on the rear barrel and the model number on the back of the gun handle stock. Taking your shotgun to an experienced gunsmith or a gun trade show is the best bet to find the brand and make of any gun. But also can try to find the brand symbol and model number yourself.
A shotgun (also known as a scattergun, or historically as a fowling piece) is a firearm that is usually designed to be fired from the shoulder, which uses the energy of a fixed shell to fire a number of small spherical pellets called shot, or a solid projectile called a slug.
From 1887 to 1900 the history of the shotgun progressed as John Moses Browning designed the first lever action, pump action and auto loading shotguns. As with many of the weapons Browning designed, the shotguns of today are still the same basic design he invented more than 100 years ago.

A little rich for my blood, but if you have the funds… I have the Citori XS Skeet and yes, they are worth the money depending on what you want to do with them. If you are just going to blast some birds out of the sky a few times a year they are nice but overkill.
Dillinger New Member. Browning makes a good stick, but it's not the best factory actioned rifle out there. The do have some consistently good barrels, of the ones I have seen, and they do have a pretty good locktime ( meaning that their firing pins aren't super heavy and they travel well when the trigger is pulled ).
Miroku make excellent guns, they still make most Brownings, they have good stock shapes, and are extremely well and consistently finished.
Most of the shotguns produced by Browning are pretty expensive. Thankfully, the Browning BPS Field is a much more affordable option. These pump shotguns go for around $800 and are a good option for someone looking for versatility.
Today's Browning firearms are made in either Belgium, Portugal, Japan or in the United States. The original Browning & Brothers store in Ogden, Utah.
The most famous Citori is probably the Lightning field gun. The standard Grade I Lightning comes with a select, checkered, American walnut stock and forend and light scroll engraving on the receiver. The stock has a durable glossy finish and the metal finish is a high luster blue.
In 1977, the Browning Arms Company was acquired as a subsidiary by the FN Herstal company of Herstal, Belgium, which continues to oversee operations today. The name "Citori" has no meaning and is an advertising construct.

FN would also buy out Browning USA in 1977, establish a U.S. manufacturing operation in Columbia, SC in 1981 (FN Manufacturing), acquire the license to produce Winchester brand firearms in 1991, and establish FNH USA in 1998.
It depends on what type and model the gun is. If the gun has a serial number. You can generally trace it through any number books or the manufacture. If it is not serialized then its general date of manufacture on say a Musket can be tracked through the proof and armory stamps on the barrel.
No serial number is given to the FBI. Only AFTER the weapon is in the hands of law enforcement is the serial number checked. Then the agency can go to the database to find out where that particular firearm was originally sold.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is the only agency authorized to run a trace on a gun serial number to see if it has been involved in a crime. Law enforcement can only legally use this service when a gun is involved in bona fide criminal investigations.
Production returned to Belgium after the war, but moved to Browning's Miroku plant in Japan in 1975. The last original A5s rolled off the production line in 1998.
Most Browning guns were made in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale (FN) until the mid 1970s when some production was shifted to Miroku in Japan. Today's Browning firearms are made in either Belgium, Portugal, Japan or in the United States.
