The 1985 Corvette replaced the 205 horsepower L83 engine with the L98 230 horsepower engine with Bosch tuned port fuel injection. Torque also increased from 290 lb-ft of torque to 330 lb-ft.

Last year, owner Mark claimed to have racked up 650,000 miles on his 2000 Chevrolet Corvette. Since then, we've started wondering just how far this car would go, and as of June 2016 the original owner of this original-engine 5 appears to be close to 710,000 miles!
C4 Corvettes are cool again. And it's time to buy. After 20-plus years of getting very little respect, the Corvette's fourth generation is beginning to have resurgence in both popularity and value. Today, it not only remains one of the quickest and fastest Corvettes of all time, it's also one of the most affordable.
I like it for the pleasure of driving and the being an affordable performance vehicle. The interior could be a little better, but it sure is fun to drive! This is a great corvette for the money. This car is very clean.
Corvette ZR1

As such, base-model C4 Corvettes are not generally considered collectible, and it's doubtful they ever will be. Essentially, a C4 from the '80s makes a good starting point for an enthusiast's ride, but it is a poor investment for resale.The biggest reason why no model-year 1983 Corvettes were sold has to do with the state of California, which changed its emissions requirements before C4 production began. The Corvette team didn't do that. Instead, they worked on making the car better in all possible aspects before starting the line in earnest for 1984.
