How to Professionally Whiten Hotel Towels
- Separate whites from all other colors of laundry.
- Examine the towels for obvious marks or stains, and pre-treatthem by spraying the stains with hydrogen peroxide about an hourbefore washing.
- Add the usual amount of laundry detergent to the washingmachine, and also add about half a cup of baking soda.
If you want to whiten clothes, try adding 1/2 cupof lemon juice or 1 cup of distilled white vinegar to yourlaundry during the wash cycle. If there are stubborn stainson your white clothes, make a thick paste of baking soda andwater and apply it to the stain before washingit.

When white clothes start to get ayellow tinge around the armpits we might assume that it isour sweat that has caused the stain. The real cause of theseyellowish stains is a mixture of the minerals, especiallysalt, in our sweat mixing with the ingredients in ourantiperspirant or deodorants, mostly aluminum.
It may sound like a cliché, but adding 1/2 cupbaking soda to your usual amount of liquid laundrydetergent really will give you “whiter whites”and brighter colors. The baking soda also softens the water,so you can actually use less detergent.
How to Get Clothes Really White Without UsingBleach
- Pour hot water into a large bowl or bucket, and add severallemon slices. Soak your white garments in the bowl or bucket forone to two hours.
- Let your washing machine fill with water. Add 1 cup of yourregular laundry detergent, and 1/2 to 1 cup of white vinegar.
- Hang your white garments to dry in the sun.
Soak the items in a solution of ¼ cup Clorox®Regular Bleach2 per gallon of water. Fullysubmerge for 5 minutes, then wash in hot water using detergent +¾ cup bleach (or fill the dispenser to the max-fillline). This is ideal for dingy yellow build-up from poorcleaning over time.
To keep whites their whitest always use½ cup of Clorox® Regular-Bleach. Add ½ cupof Clorox® Regular Bleach2 to wash waterafter your detergent, but before adding clothes. For optimalresults, we recommend adding ½ cup of Clorox® RegularBleach2 to water five minutes after the washcycle has begun.

Cause: If you use the incorrect amount of detergent,limescale and soap scum may accumulate on your clothes(grey coating). White towels that have turnedgrey due to limescale can be whitened again by washing them inthe washing machine with a small amount of citric acid powder orvinegar instead of detergent.
Wash whites separately. The best way to retainwhiteness is to launder white items together in the hottest waterthe fabric will tolerate (water that is at least 120 degrees ismost effective at removing soil). Choose detergent with a bleachalternative and/or enzymes, using the maximum amountrecommended.
You can use vinegar to help bring out the brightness inyour white clothing. When washing, add 1/2 cup ofwhite distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle. DishwashingDetergent. In some cases, it may be safe to use dishwashingdetergent (such as Cascade) to soak your white clothingbefore washing.
